Create Living Habitats on Earth, the Moon, and Mars
The Biome
Nature provides the blueprint for a living habitat on any rocky surface, such as the Earth, the Moon, or Mars. For the Seed of Life, or a Biome, we must select a small group of complimentary species that together can produce the quantities of air, water, food, and waste processing that can be scalable as more humans arrive in the habitat.
AIR
It would take a great number of traditional green plants or trees to provide the oxygen needed for humans in our habitat. We will have plants for food, but we must also cultivate those plants that can be grown in large enough numbers to off-set the CO2 production of humans and animals. We will do this with Spirulina algae, grown in our own biological air scrubbers.
WATER
Water is key to nearly everything we humans do. Nature recycles the water we use, and our Biome does the same. Fertilized water from the fish pond, is moved to the crops which feed, cleaning the water for the fish. Water continues and is used by the co2 scrubbers, and a small portion is diverted into the drinking water filtration system. Filters on our plumbing prepare grey water for return to the fish pond to complete and close the cycle.
FOOD
Our biome is home to a garden utilizing multiple aquaponics methods to be able to grow greens, fruit, and root crops for a wide variety of vegetable choices for our settlers. Additionally, chickens provide eggs, and fish are our primary meat source.
WASTES
Key components in our Biome include a novel, biological solid waste processor. Human, animal, and plant wastes are all placed into this processor, to be reduced, and consumed. The output of the processor, is feed for other species within the biome.
ENERGY
Our Protoype energy system produces 3kw of power daily from a solar array on the roof, keeping our 500 ah storage unit full for night-time use.
